Charlie, Garret and Lucy - Duck Hunt on Maurepas Swamp WMA 2004
Our Story
Like most, our love of dogs goes back to the beginning. From childhood Basset Hounds, Beagles, and rabbit hunting with family, to well-trained retrievers in the duck blind, dogs and the outdoors have always been a major part of our lives. Our first trained retriever, Lucy, a chocolate female out of Gator Point's Dirt Road Sport, trained as both a waterfowl and upland hunter, got us invited to hunts all over the country – grouse and woodcock in Wisconsin, wild pheasant and quail in Kansas, geese in Texas, plantation quail hunts in Georgia, and, most importantly, a lot of duck hunts right here in Louisiana with each other. Lucy also introduced us to UKC hunt tests and a modern method of training. From this beginning, Palmetto Creek Kennels & Gundogs was created more than 10 years later.

Meet the Trainer
Garret Neale - Garret is the owner and trainer here at Palmetto Creek Kennels. He trained his first dog at 14 years old and his first client dog at 16. Garret develops a special relationship with the dogs he works with and it shows in the results he achieves. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, it's not a surprise that he chose training dogs as a career. Garret has successfully trained and handled dogs in AKC and UKC Retriever Hunt Tests and UKC's BDC Upland Tournaments. He has also created many hunting and family companions and happy clients!
